Warmington Horticultural Society - Spring update

A big thank you to everyone who braved the elements to come to our “Evening with the experts” and AGM. The two expert judges entertained us with tips and tales of judging and showing. Jackie O’Hare provided an impressive array of props, which helped to demonstrate the core design principles of floral art. Whilst Nicholas Warliker reminded us that if the class calls for 12 raspberries, then the judge’s task really is made much easier if we do only put 12 raspberries on the plate!  We hope you now all feel inspired and ready to try new classes at this year’s show.

We would also like to ask you to think of us when starting your spring gardening tasks. If you’re dividing perennials or potting on seedlings, please consider putting any surplus stock in a spare pot for our Bring and Buy Plant Sale. The sale is the major fund raiser for the summer show and any donations of plants or anything connected with gardening is most welcome. The Village Hall will be open from 9am on 18th May for donations and sales, but as stock can arrive at any time it’s often worth more than one visit if you don’t immediately find what you’re looking for.

If you weren’t able to make the AGM and wish to pay your 2013 subscription (£3 per adult member) you can post it to 53 Church Street, Warmington.

The Warmington Horticultural Society (WHS) is affiliated with the Royal Horticultural Society.
We are over 100 years old and have a thriving membership with many activities throughout the year.

Our biggest fundraiser is our fantastic yearly plant sale at the village hall each May which has customers queuing from early morning!
We also organise and run the hugely successful  Warmington Village Show (last Saturday in July) which seems to grow bigger every year and includes baking, jams, preserves as well as fruit and vegetables,  children's categories and an immense range of talents in the handicrafts sections, truly something for everyone!
We have a guest speaker at least twice a year
We are a friendly and welcoming group, our membership is rather expensive at £3 per year though!
