Just Friends is a ladies choir which meets every Thursday evening in school term time from 7.30 PM - 9 PM in Warmington School Hall
Jean Fisher is the Choir Leader and conducts us in the singing of a variety of musical repertoire, which includes traditional/folk songs, music from around the world, light classical and Pop ballads. We sing either acappella or with guitar/piano accompaniment. Whether we sing in unison or harmony our aim is to bring enjoyment to ourselves and our audience!
We perform at a number of village events throughout the year including the annual Retired Residents Christmas Party, the Church Carol Service, the Oundle Music Festival and our annual "Just Friends" concert in Warmington church in late June..
Our annual concert in the church always attracts a large audience. Next June our theme will be a celebration of the Queen's 60 year reign. We work hard in the Spring term perfecting a couple of contrasting songs to compete in the Oundle music festival. We have even been known to win on a couple of occasions!
There are currently about 30 of us in the choir across a broad age range and we are always ready to welcome newcomers who fancy a sing song with camaraderie
The Just Friends Choir originated almost 8 years ago as a group of school mums who wanted to sing together. We met after school and the children played in the playground while we sang!
Over time this evolved to evening rehearsals (with fewer distractions!!) and we have gained and lost new members along the way. We now have singers from other villages, with even one member from Corby and one or two from Peterborough so our fame is obviously spreading!
In July 2010, Tom Levinge, a film maker from the village shot a short video about Just Friends, using a handheld camera. This video shows them at rehearsals prior to their Summer concert.
