 First Steering Group Meeting

The first meeting of the Design Statement Steering Group took place on 24 January 2002. The meeting was well attended and a lively debate on the organisation and work required to produce a village design statement (VDS) ensued. Following approval of the constitution the officers were elected by a unanimous vote.
Chairman - William Du Croz
Treasurer - Robert Brant
Joint Secretaries - Annette Solt and Judy Stroud
It was agreed to appoint a publicity officer, if you are interested in the post please contact the Chairman. There will be a competition for a VDS logo and the suggestion for a series of village and farm walks to ensure everyone can become familiar with all aspects of the parish.
Although the Steering Group has received a grant of £300 from the Parish Council, the production of the VDS could cost up to £3,000 or £4,000. Therefore there is a need to raise additional funds and obtain the help of volunteers with specialist skills to reduce costs.
In particular we need artists, photographers, designers, computer skills, architects and plenty of just to help out with the many tasks and research to be undertaken over the next year.
The provisional timetable for the VDS is:
  • Village Workshop 27 April 2002.
  • First draft of the VDS September 2002
  • VDS presented to the Parish Council for approval in January 2003
The next meeting of the Steering Group is on Thursday 21 February 2002, in the Village Hall. All parishioners are welcome to attend and make their views known.
