INTERIM PARISH COUNCIL MEETING Minutes of the meeting held on Friday 12 At 6 pm in the Village Hall, Warmington 1. ATTENDANCE Mr D Rowell (Chairman) 2 APOLOGIES : Apologies were received and accepted from Mr Bosworth 3. DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST : None 4. PLANNING a) Post Office House, 30 School Lane – EN/03/01342- Single storey rear extension. There were no objections to this application. b) Elton Boat Club, Eaglethorpe – EN/03/01426 – Change of use from boat club to retail showroom. Discussion centred around the advantages and disadvantages of this application. On the positive side it maintains and upgrades an otherwise derelict building, it offers employment and it was included in the original plan. On the negative side it is an expansion of retail in a sensitive area and it may add to the burgeoning number of signs in the area, although it could be argued that these signs serve to eliminate traffic traveling through the village to locate2 Fired Earth. Mrs Huett proposed and Mr Reid seconded that there be no objections to the application. The majority were in favour. c) Elton Estates Reservoir. At a recent seminar attended by Mr Rowell and Mrs Hodges information was obtained concerning the possible effects of this application having been referred to Government offices. The process could take anything from 6 weeks to 2½ years. Only about 400 plans are called in per annum and it may result in a Public Enquiry. Mrs Huett suggested that the Parish Council should form closer links with Elton Parish Council. She was concerned that a lot of Elton residents are unaware of the application for the reservoir and of the links between the reservoir and the proposed changes at Elton junction. Contact has been made with Elton Parish Council and they will be inviting the Parish Council to attend an open meeting specifically to discuss the proposals re Elton junction. Mr Rowell agreed to discuss the matter further with the Chairman of Elton Parish Council. d) Mr Rowell reported that on 21st November ENC approved the Village Design Statement as Supplementary Planning Guidance. Mr Du Croz has agreed to attend Parish Council meetings to advise on planning matters. e) Mr Rowell reported that there is an application for an 80 bed-roomed hotel at the Riverside Pub, Ashton. f) Mr Rowell reported that ENC have set up a working party looking into conservation areas. The meeting closed at 6.25pm |
