Mr Rowell ran through the main headings of the minutes as a reminder. Mr Dixon proposed and Mr Hinton seconded that these be signed as a true and accurate record of events. AIF 3. CHAIRMAN’S Report – Will be taken as read in the Annual Parish Council Meeting 4. ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION The Annual Parish Meeting. Parishioners seemed happy to continue with the practice of holding this meeting directly after the Annual Parish Council Meeting. Mr Peck asked on behalf of Mrs Black about the situation with the Electricity work on Broadgate Way. Cables and wires have been left sticking out. Mr Cooper replied that the cable was due to go further up Broadgate Way. With a change in funding this is no longer the case. With regard to the wires at the Black’s house the Electricity Board have not been able to arrange a suitable time to visit. Mr Cooper will follow this up. Mr Peck suggested that with elections coming up in 2003 it would be nice if potential candidates provided some background details about themselves, possibly with a photograph, and some idea what they would hope to achieve on the Parish Council. Mr Davey and Mr Constant both spoke in favour of this and it was considered to be a good idea. Mr Constant asked if the Parish Council could adopt a policy to prevent contractors from using the verges in the village as a compound. This will be on the agenda for the next meeting. Mrs Bosworth pointed out that it also applied to the public and in particular to those collecting from School and parking on the verges. Mrs Cooper pointed out that contractors have also made a mess on the footpath in Orchard Close. Mr Short suggested giving all contractors in the village a letter setting out the policy of the Parish Council. Mrs Bosworth pointed out that despite having strimmers, NCC did not cut around the area where the tree came down when they last visited the village. Mr Thomas suggested planting trees around the allotment area. This was considered to be a good idea and will be looked into together with the possibility of a hedge. Mr Rowell congratulated Mr Thomas on the success of the village web site. Mr Peck questioned how long it would be before the new owners of the new house in Orchard Close asked for the bus stop to be moved. There were varying views on this hypothetical question, but it was felt that although an eye could be kept on the situation, the bus stop existed when the house was purchased and it would be impossible to move it either left or right in any case. Mrs Hodges pointed out that parking on the path in the village is still a problem. ANY OTHER BUSINESS : None The meeting closed at 9.35pm. |
